I don't know if batteries were smaller back then, but the five that this calculator takes fit very, very snugly. In fact, please see the photo that shows a best practice for removing batteries in manner will not harm plastic casing. It did perform simple mathematical calculations, though. Please see photos for overall condition.

For example, there are two hairline cracks on one end. I use the word functional as an indicator that have not tested other features of this calculator. There may be other flaws that I have overlooked, but again, overall the item is in great shape, given its age. Batteries are not included.
